The main objective of the project is to develop an integrated system for the characterization, monitoring and surveillance of maritime traffic off the Portuguese mainland coast, including in port areas. This objective will be achieved through the development of tools for characterizing routes and operational profiles of maritime traffic and automatically detecting abnormal behavior of merchant ships and fishing vessels.
The integrated system that is intended to be developed aims to provide information on typical ship routes in order to increase the level of safety and efficiency of current maritime operations, enable future operations with autonomous ships and provide alerts of anomalous situations to support the tasks of monitoring and control of coastal and port maritime traffic.
