The objective of this research project was to develop control strategies of oil-hydraulic and electric drives installed in power take-off systems for wave energy converters in order to improve their overall efficiency and without undermining their life cycle time. The access to experimental facilities at TECNALIA was an excellent opportunity to develop these strategies in a hardware in the loop simulation test rig, because they were developed on real electrical drives, and so, including the real world complexities in this research study.
