Advanced methods for reliability analysis of complex structures (ADAPTREL)

Duration: 01.03.2011 – 28.02.2014 (36 months)

This project aims at developing general purpose tools for the reliability analysis of complex systems using advanced FE methods. Although the methods and the techniques to be developed can be applied to all types of structural systems, the focus will be on marine and civil structures, particularly, on ship hulls and box girder bridges, which are both modelled as large thin-walled box girders and, therefore, their structural behaviour is quite similar. This objective will be achieved by implementing efficient reliability methods and creating user friendly interfaces between these implementations and a commercial non-linear general propose FE code.
