Radar Monitoring Network of the Sea State in the Coastal Waters of the Iberian Peninsula (RADSEANET)

The aim of this project is to set up a remote pilot sensing sea state monitoring network for Portugal and the increasing of the actual radar based station network in Spain installing a new radar system in the North-west coast of Spain and upgrading two prototype stations in Spain to the commercial radar sensor. The Portuguese data will be linked with the existing Spanish network to create a monitoring system for the whole Iberian Peninsula. In addition these radar measurements will be combined with ground truth sensors of Spain and Portugal and numerical models running in Spain and Portugal. The resulting now and forecasting will be made available to the local coastal authorities by WWW.
