An approach to synthesizing Doptimized experimental design for arbitrary number of factors was developed and tested on a thirdorder polynomial regression model with number of factors 5 through 8. Three options were envisaged for the internal optimization procedure: the exhaustive search, the quasirandom search with the help of the Sobol sequences, and the genetic algorithm. The performed calculations have confirmed the possibility of using the method for significant improvement of economical responsesurface experimental designs and have shown a pronounced superiority of the genetic algorithm variant. An example is given of practical synthesis of an experimental design for the case of PMM captivemodel tests of a catamaran's model with varying Froude number, drift angle, rate of yaw, sinkage, trim, and heel. The constructed linear regression model is thirdorder polynomial with respect to all factors except the Froude number whose influence was described by representing regression coefficients of the primary polynomial model with truncated Fourier series with an added linear term.
