This paper deals with probabilistic models of wave parameters that are relevant to the prediction of the probability of green water on FPSO’s. Models that are appropriate for practical applications are compared with the empirical distributions obtained from full scale data from the North Sea. Attention is given to the probability distributions of wave heights and crests as well as to the prediction of groups of high waves.
