An overview of the wave data and wave models for reliability assessment of offshore structures is presented. Uncertainties related to description of wave environment are identified. Sensitivity of reliability assessment of offshore structures to these uncertainties is discussed and illustrated by examples. Potentials of solving the identified problems are pointed out and recommendations for establishing more accurate wave description are suggested.
