The objective of this study is to investigate the ultimate strength of a square plate under constant speed load accounting for the rate dependent material properties. The explicit dynamic time integration method in the finite element solution is implemented to estimate the load carrying capacity with variousloading rates. The load carrying capacity estimated by the finite element solution iscomparedwith existing experimental results. Finally, some conclusions are presented.
