Berenjkoob, M.N., Ghiasi, M. e Guedes Soares, C. (2019), “Performance of two types of mooring systems in the heave motion of a two-body floating wave energy converter”, Journal of Marine Science and Application, Vol. 18, pp. 38-47

The paper focuses on investigating the influence of two types of mooring system on the hydrodynamic performance of a two-body floating Wave Energy Converter (WEC) as well as studying the effects of physical parameters of a mooring system on the extractable power from the incident waves in the frequency domain. The modelled converter consists of a floating body (a buoy), a submerged body with two mooring systems and a system for coupling the two bodies. The coupling system is a simplified system of the power take-off that is modelled by a linear spring-damper model. It was found that a tension leg mooring system could significantly affect the heave motion of the submerged body of the model and increase the heave relative displacement between the two bodies. The effects of the stiffness parameter of mooring system are more than the pre-tension force of tendons in the process of power absorption process.
