Concern with the assessment of general ecnomic and safety criteria for marine structures and with the development of appropriate procedures for rational design and maintenance using these principles. special attention shoul be given to defining the treatment of uncertainties affecting structural behaviour. Attention shoul also be given to safety levels and other matters related to reserve strength of the structure beyond components behaviour, until the ultimate capacity is reached as a structural system - for example under accidental or other overload conditions.
