This paper describes the installation of a system to analyse images from a X-band radar in order to produce the directional spectra and sea state parameters at a location near the Port of Sines in Portugal. Analysis of the time series of the radar is performed to determine the directional spectra of the ocean wave fields and also their parameters. The radar calibration and the results are presented through a comparison with a directional Waverider buoy, evaluating the performance of the system in what concerns the determination of wave parameters and the full directional spectra.
