This work deals with the categorization of regulatory limits for oil tankers internal layout design after generating a parametric model with proper design variables and the capability of evaluating regulations restrictions. First, the regulations relevant for the internal layout type and dimensions will be categorized. Then, a method for generating a parametric model is presented taking into consideration the regulatory limitations. An adaptive procedure will be used to evaluate the provided model with respect to the damage stability regulations. Finally, the importance of design variables will be discussed and potential merit functions will be identified for future optimization studies.
