This paper presents the model uncertainty stemming from the estimation of the drag and inertia coefficients used in Morison’s equation to predict the wave force on a fixed vertical cylinder. Many approaches are available to estimate the coefficients used in Morison’s equation that are either constant or variable within a wave record. Two irregular and two regular wave records were studied. The water kinematics is calculated by using Airy theory for this numerical representation was carried out after subtracting the zero- crossings periods from the wave elevation records and calculate the power spectral density for each record. Morison’s and least squares methods are used to estimate the constant values of the coefficients along the time record. On the other hand, the cross-spectrum approach and the wave by wave approach are used to estimate the variable coefficients along the time record. The results are combined to estimate the model uncertainty related to the coefficient’s estimation.
