Rodrigues, J.M., Xu, S. e Guedes Soares, C. (2016), “Hydrodynamic analysis and optimization of the DEXA WEC operated in a specified location”, INORE 10th European Symposium 2016, 12-18 June, Nantes, France

The linear frequency method is implemented to optimize the DEXA WEC configuration which aims to have the best performance of energy capturing, the significant produced energy is analyzed which takes wave climate of design location into consideration. An Atlantic Ocean site near Portugal has been taken as the specified location, the wave data from 1979-2007 are simulated by Wavewatch the typical wave climate is analyzed, besides, the annual and seasonal wave energy are presented. Furthermore, the significant directional wave height distribution is driven, and the wave spectrum is presented as the optimization design input. Some results are concluded, as follows: - The device length plays a significant role in the DEXA power production performance, the short design case shows more satisfied results; - The width the effects on energy production are not as significant as length - The mass distribution of the device also plays a significant role in the power capturing, the low gravity center and great radius gyration for pitch design case show better performance.
