In order to minimise the total expected life-cycle cost of an offshore wind turbine supporting structure, a fatigue reliability assessment of critical structural components is necessary. The present work addresses the fatigue reliability assessment accounting for an in-service crack growth on a welded tubular joint of an offshore wind turbine supporting structure. The study covers the reliability updating based on inspections and repairs. The fracture mechanics approach, based on the Paris-Erdogan law, is adopted to analyse the crack growth and the limit state function is developed such that the critical crack size is estimated using the failure assessment diagram, which takes into account the two failure conditions accounting for the yielding and fracture. The uncertainties related to the crack growth and the failure assessment diagram are included in the reliability analysis. Changes in the sensitivity of reliability estimates regarding the random variables are also shown. Finally, different inspection polices, welding qualities and methods of inspection are investigated with respect to the reliability estimates.
