According to the vast applications of sandwich panels and steels in naval structures, it is essential to investigate the stress distributions in composite-to-steel joints under different kinds of loading conditions. For this purpose, a suitable support and bonding situation is necessary. In this study, a numerical analysis has been developed to improve the capacity of the support contains sandwich structures under bending and torsion load. 3D models were analysed to determine the best dimensions of the bracket in a clamped support to evaluate their effects on the joint load bearing capacity and stiffness using ANSYS software. Also cohesive properties have been considered to join steel-composite, steel-core and core-composite. The results demonstrate load-deflection curves, stress variations and debonding initiation point. Analysis of the results shows the most suitable values of design parameters and the estimation of the maximum load which can be exerted on the specimen regarding plastic effects. Also, this investigation identifies the areas more critical from a failure point of view.
