A parametric study was performed on the motions of several variants of a TRANSCAT catamaran hull in order to identify the effect of several parameters in the seakeeping characteristics of this type of vessels. The hull variants used in this parametric study have the same displacement as the TRANSCAT in full load condition. Twenty-seven different hulls were defined by changing the length, the demi-hull beam, the draught and also the distance between the two catamaran hulls. Calculations were made over a Froude number range of 0.0 to 0.62 in head waves. A full range of wavelengths from half ship length up to four times the ship length was used. The code used in the calculations is a recently developed one based on linear strip theory that takes into account the two dimensional interference between the hulls and the viscous effects through a cross-flow drag approach. The results from this study were analysed and the influence of the changing parameters leads to some conclusions and some practical suggestions.
