Accreditation of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Programmes (2026–2031) 23-03-2026 in IST/CENTEC
The three cycles of study — bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes — in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico have been accredited by the Agência de Avaliação e Acreditação do Ensino Superior (A3ES) for a period of six years.
This decision follows a demanding external assessment process, which considered criteria such as the qualifications of the teaching staff, the curriculum structure, the available scientific resources, and the relevance of the programmes to the maritime sector. With this accreditation, the programmes reinforce their role in training highly qualified professionals capable of addressing the sector’s challenges. The articulation between bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels ensures a comprehensive academic pathway, from foundational training to advanced research, contributing to innovation and the sustainable development of the maritime sector in Portugal.
