The Shanghai ranking of the world’s top universities has published recently the 2017 results.
The Shanghai ranking of the world’s top universities has published recently the 2017 results, where Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of Instituto Superior Técnico (Universidade de Lisboa) has been classified in 3rd place. The world top 50 universities in this scientific area are published in: http://www.shanghairanking.com/Shanghairanking-Subject-Rankings/marine-ocean-engineering.html
This was the best national classification ever obtained in all scientific areas and of all Portuguese universities, as reported by the newspaper Público: https://www.publico.pt/2017/06/28/sociedade/noticia/ha-tres-instituicoes-portuguesas-entre-as-50-melhores-do-mundo-nas-suas-areas-cientificas-1777182
The result was even more prestigious for IST when one compares the much higher number of the academic staff in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of the other universities at the top of the ranking with the number of IST academic staff.
