The present work compares the performance of the added-weight and lost buoyancy methods for simulating the damaged ship condition in steady state wave induced load calculations. The wave loads are evaluated by a three-dimensional linear panel method. Horizontal and vertical bending moment and shear force are calculated as the main induced wave loads to ship hull. In this study a frigate model is adopted and the results obtained by each method are compared with reported results, which were obtained using the strip theory and model tests. In this case study, the response amplitude operator of the mentioned loads is evaluated for different wave heading angles. It is shown that each method have pros and cons for implementation and obtained results.
