Numerical modelling of wave interaction with fixed floating structure has been performed based on CFD simulations using OpenFOAM which solves free surface Newtonian flows using Navier-Stokes equations coupled with a volume of fluid (VOF) method. The numerical results obtained for a fixed floating structure are compared with linearized analytical results based on linearized Boussinesq equations. The comparisons result on free surface elevations and vertical force acting on the floating structure. Further, the CFD results of vertical force are also compared with the experimental model results recently presented. The numerical results are in good agreement with the analytical and experimental model results. Hence, it is observed that the results show a good performance of the numerical CFD model for wave interaction with a fixed floating structure in 2D.
