Corrosion of pipelines has been carefully treated to date mainly due to the threat it impose on the environment. Codes and recommendation practices as those proposed by ASME B31G (1991) and a modified version by Kiefner and Vieth (1990) as well as DnV (1999) have been widely considered to analyse data from pipeline inspections, especially the detrimental influence of defects on the burst pressure.
