A mathematical model associated with wave interaction with a moored floating flexible cylindrical net cage is developed based on linearized water wave theory. The analytical solution is obtained using Fourier Bessel series solution and least squares approximation method along with matching the velocity and pressure at the fluid-structure interfaces. The analytical results of the horizontal displacement and acceleration for different design parameters are compared with numerical simulations and they have a good level of agreement. For validation, the numerical model results are compared with existing published experimental results. The effects of mooring stiffness, membrane tension, and cage height on horizontal wave loads are determined from the analytical solutions. The loads on the mooring lines are assessed with the numerical tool. The comparison results indicate that the analytical model can be used with confidence in the design of a flexible cylindrical net cage for application to offshore aquaculture.
